Milwaukee Bucks: 15 greatest draft steals in franchise history
If Sidney Moncrief is the pride of Arkansas basketball, then Bob Dandridge is the pride of Norfolk State. The 6-foot-6 small forward led the Spartans to numerous conference titles and accolades during his time there before he entered the NBA Draft.
In 1969, the Bucks made a major move at the draft, selecting UCLA center Lew Alcindor with the first overall pick. He would go on to establish himself as the best in the game before demanding a trade out of Milwaukee. Prior to that, he won one title and took the team to a second, all with Bob Dandridge there to help.
After Alcindor was selected in 1969, the Bucks still had a few draft picks remaining, but most of those did not pan out. The one who did was not to come until the 45th pick, a small forward out of Norfolk State named Bob Dandridge.
While Alcindor and Oscar Robertson were the driving forces, Dandridge was there to complement them. He started and played well for the Bucks, helping propel them to the NBA Finals (twice) and to an NBA title. For the 45th pick in a weakened draft? Utterly ludicrous.
