In the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, the league employed a number of forwards whose best skill was scoring, and scoring in bunches. From Adrian Dantley to George Gervin, these players were a part of a league growing in popularity behind offensive excellence. Milwaukee got in on this trend when they drafted Alex English in the 1976 NBA Draft.

English would make the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame after scoring more points than anyone except Moses Malone from when he was drafted until 1990.

Most of his scoring came with the Denver Nuggets, with whom he spent the bulk of his career, but English began things with the Bucks after going 23rd in the 1976 NBA Draft out of the University of South Carolina.

English spent two seasons with the Bucks before leaving in free agency, which netted Milwaukee a compensatory first-round pick to use down the line. While the best of the Bucks was in the past and their dominant playoff run was just to come, Milwaukee was not a favorable spot for English.

He joined the Indiana Pacers for under two seasons before finally reaching Denver. The future Hall of Fame forward had a rough start to his career, but he finished well. Just not in Milwaukee, unfortunately.
