Summer focus and final grade

After raising the bar throughout his sophomore season, Wilson’s second full offseason as a pro will certainly center on improving his the strengths he’s already flexed as well as his current deficiencies.

In regards to the latter, that goes beyond just improving his still budding skill set as it will be a priority for Wilson to continue filling out his frame in order to strengthen his standing as a small ball center for stretches.

That could be especially important, considering the state of the Bucks’ frontcourt depth going into this year’s free agency as Brook Lopez and Nikola Mirotic are all set to hit the open market in a few weeks. With the Bucks already hard pressed to retain the entire crop of pending free agents they have between Lopez and Mirotic as well as Malcolm Brogdon, George Hill and Khris Middleton, the window may be opening for Wilson to have a bigger role next season and beyond.

The prospect of that is incredibly tantalizing from Wilson’s perspective, but it only makes this offseason that much more critical for him to continue down his development trajectory.

Wilson’s strides this season have made him a promising piece within Milwaukee’s supporting cast both in the present and in the long-term and as long as he keeps making contributions now, it’ll only make his future that much brighter.
