Quotes
CBS Sport’s Gary Parrish has Dylan Windler going 29th in his latest mock-draft. Parrish sees the potential for Windler to become a valuable floor-spacer at the NBA level:
"“Windler entered Belmont as a mostly unheralded prospect but is leaving as one of the nation’s most productive players. The 6-8 senior averaged 21.3 points and 10.8 rebounds in 33.2 minutes per game this season while registering the nation’s 10th-best Player Efficiency Rating and leading the Bruins to their first win in NCAA Tournament history. Beyond that, Windler shot above 42% from 3-point range in each of the past two seasons, which suggests he’ll be a reliable shooter in the NBA and a space-the-floor forward.”"
The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor had Dylan Windler 23rd in his latest mock-draft. Though he is higher on him than most, he does see several potential weaknesses that he must address at the pro level.
"“He’s a fluid athlete who can wow the crowd with loud dunks, but he must add weight to his slight frame to maximize his overall abilities. Doesn’t have the strength to consistently drive to the rim in pick-and-rolls. Shot only 71.2 percent from the line over his first three seasons. He also occasionally has wild misses, and his 3-point percentage drops in a small sample of games against top-100 defenses. He shoots more accurately when he doesn’t need to rush his shot, though he’d benefit from adding the hop to his jumper instead of always one-two stepping. Lacks the size to contain larger forwards and the lateral foot speed to keep in front of speedy point guards; he sometimes defends on his heels or sloppily closes out. Takes some unnecessary risks defending man-to-man, like reaching around his man to poke at the ball instead of staying in front.””"
