Milwaukee Bucks 2018-19 Season Review: Tim Frazier
By Adam McGee
Summer focus and final grade
As a player who has spent the last couple of seasons scrapping for his NBA life, the uncertainty of the offseason likely isn’t all that fun for Tim Frazier.
He joins a long list of Milwaukee free agents, yet does so without ever really being listed as a member of that group. That is undoubtedly frustrating, although it may not even signal that Frazier’s time with the Bucks has come to an end.
Whenever all of the Bucks’ top line business has been completed and they’re left to round out the roster with minimum deals, Frazier has certainly made a case that he’ll once again be worthy of consideration.
Whether it’s in Milwaukee or elsewhere, Frazier’s path to a roster spot will likely run through a non-guaranteed training camp battle. With plenty of NBA experience under his belt, a résumé that shows him to be an incredibly steady and capable point guard, and a reputation as a good teammate, there won’t be many better players available at that point of the NBA season.
If Frazier wants to move past that annual route to a roster spot, he’ll have to spend the offseason continuing to work on his three-point shot. After shooting 41.7 percent from deep with the Bucks, there’s plenty of positive signs there, and if Frazier can achieve that kind of efficiency over a larger sample in the future, his chance to take on a major role for an NBA team may still be ahead of him.
Overall, Frazier didn’t have enough opportunity with the Bucks to have a really great season, but he certainly did everything that Milwaukee could have asked of him, and for a 15th man type player, you can’t ask for more than that.
