Beyond their free agency priorities, the Milwaukee Bucks could have up to five open roster spots to fill in free agency. Which guards could interest them?

With just days remaining until the start of free agency, all discussion surrounding the Milwaukee Bucks’ offseason has understandably centered around the players they will be looking to retain.

The Bucks will undoubtedly make bringing back Khris Middleton, Malcolm Brogdon and Brook Lopez top priority, with George Hill being another obvious candidate to again suit up in Milwaukee next season once his expensive guarantee for next season is declined.

Still, the Bucks are going to have a meaningful number of roster spots to fill beyond that.

Pau Gasol and Tim Frazier join Hill and Nikola Mirotic as Bucks’ role players who are likely set for unrestricted free agency, and recent acquisition Jon Leuer may well be set for the open market too, if the Bucks opt to waive and stretch his contract to increase their cap flexibility.

In short, even with key players returning, the Bucks’ roster for next season is likely to contain anywhere between 3-5 new faces.

With that in mind, over the coming days I’m going to take a look at the free agents the Bucks could look to target in their attempts to fill out the back half of their roster. This won’t include Milwaukee’s own pending free agents, although many of those could ultimately return.

Instead, the focus will be players the Bucks could hope to target with the limited means available to them; i.e. on veteran minimum deals, or potentially using the room mid-level exception.

So to get things underway, let’s take a closer look at five guards who may warrant further attention from the Bucks in free agency.
