DeMarre Carroll
A deal for DeMarre Carroll may prove to be on the loftier side of the potential ambitions for free agent signings considering the limited means the Bucks are going to have available when they get beyond their top priorities in free agency.
Carroll, himself, has stated his hope of securing one last “big deal”, but whether that will actually be in play for him considering he turns 33 next month remains to be seen.
Perhaps part of that transition to the latter stages of Carroll’s career came to light in his move to the bench with Brooklyn last season, but unsurprisingly that was a change that the Alabama native embraced.
Ultimately, Carroll still managed to thrive in his bench role, logging 25 minutes per game, chipping in with his fair share of points and rebounds, and retaining his trademark “Junkyard Dog” mentality.
Carroll is a great teammate, who is famed for his work ethic and ability to turn up the intensity every time he steps on the floor. One man who’ll know that better than most is Bucks’ head coach Mike Budenholzer, who worked alongside Carroll for two seasons in Atlanta.
During that time, the pair developed a real rapport as Carroll emerged from being a fringe NBA rotation player to become a key starter on Atlanta’s 60-win team. If the kind of financial reward Carroll is hoping for doesn’t materialize, the prospect of reuniting with Budenholzer on a contender may well appeal to him.
