Jared Dudley

It’s been four full seasons since Jared Dudley played for the Bucks and yet, approaching his 34th birthday, his role and value hasn’t changed all that much over those years.

Most Milwaukee fans won’t need to be reminded of what Dudley can bring to the table. The former Boston College Eagle was an immensely popular personality during his time in Milwaukee, and a key contributor to the season that’s often pointed to as the turning point that kickstarted this particular era for the franchise.

On that occasion, Dudley offered veteran know-how and all-around savvy play to a young and experienced team. Now, even though the Bucks have been through so much in the time since, those same things would still be a worthwhile addition.

Although his three-point percentage has declined in each of the last three seasons, Dudley is still very much a capable long-range shooter. Similarly, as age catches up with him, the challenge defensively undoubtedly grows more difficult for Dudley, but his sky-high basketball IQ ensures he’s reliably up to the challenge.

That was highlighted once again in the playoffs as he took on a significant role for the Nets in a hardfought series against the 76ers, and offered another reminder that Dudley still has something to offer in the NBA.

If Dudley ends up available on a veteran minimum deal, the Bucks could certainly benefit from having him in the locker room again, and he’s by no means beyond being able to make a positive in-game impact too.
