Milwaukee Bucks: 5 players to target on veteran minimum deals
By Adam McGee
Justin Holiday
With a physical profile and style of play that very much meshes with the kind of in-demand role-playing wings who’ve made a lot of money in the NBA in recent years, it’s easy to look at Holiday and wonder why he hasn’t been more successful.
Unfortunately for him, even a brief glimpse of his stats provides the answer to that question. Holiday is essentially a 3-and-D wing whose three-point shot doesn’t fall with the necessary consistency.
With six seasons in the league under his belt at this point, Holiday’s three-point shooting averages out at a distinctly mediocre 34.9 percent on 4.0 attempts per game.
That volume of attempts is encouraging, as Holiday will let fly when the opportunity presents itself, but it also plays a part in a more generally underwhelming career 39 percent field goal percentage.
Still, Holiday has largely proven himself capable of picking up minutes as a rotation wing, and could most likely be relied upon for replacement level minutes at a minimum.
Personally, I’ve always felt that, sooner or later, Holiday will have a season where his shooting turns red hot. If the Bucks have any belief in that possibility, he’d become a no-brainer on a minimum deal.
