Milwaukee Bucks: 5 players to target on veteran minimum deals
By Adam McGee
Iman Shumpert
It’s been quite the fall from grace for Iman Shumpert, who was once viewed as one of the NBA’s more intriguing and dynamic young role-playing wings.
Over the past two seasons, he’s been left simply fighting for minutes on any team that will have his less than ideal contract, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still potential value to be had here now that bad deal has expired.
Shumpert still boasts real size and length for his position, with a 6’10” wingspan acting as a nice complement for his 6’5″ height.
At his best, Shumpert demonstrated glimpses of ball skills that would have allowed him to act as an auxiliary playmaker of sorts, stout defense, and the ability to channel his impressive athleticism into positive contributions.
Injuries and loss of form have combined to make each of those elements a little less prevalent in Shumpert’s game in the time since, and his three-point shooting remains as inconsistent as ever. Still, as a pickup for the back end of the roster, it could be worth exploring.
