Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 100-91 Summer League loss to Minnesota Timberwolves
By Adam McGee
Sterling’s sustained struggles
Preparing for his third season in the NBA, Bucks fans were undoubtedly hoping for big things from Sterling Brown in Summer League. To say that hasn’t materialized so far would be an understatement.
Brown has struggled significantly in all three of Milwaukee’s games in Vegas to date, and with another off night against the Timberwolves the numbers are now becoming increasingly grim. Brown has shot just 24 percent from the field so far in Summer League.
On Monday night, Brown at least enjoyed a nice burst as the Bucks pulled within range of the Timberwolves in the fourth quarter, but that was hardly a consolation at the end of a 4-of-18 shooting performance overall.
Brown’s wayward shooting will be a concern for the coaching staff, but perhaps more surprising has been his struggles when driving to the rim. Additionally, the comfort creating as a primary ball-handler that Brown demonstrated in Las Vegas last year has yet to make a real appearance too.
At this point, it’s fair to question just how many more Summer League games the Bucks will opt to have him play in. Players of Brown’s experience at Summer League usually don’t stay for the duration of the event. Whether the Bucks decide to follow that path following his struggles or stick with him to see if he can break through it remains to be seen.
