Bonzie on the up

I doubt that many people would have predicted it prior to Summer League, but Bonzie Colson was easily the most impressive of the under contract Bucks who made the trip to Las Vegas.

Having signed with the Bucks on a two-day deal midway through last season, Colson performed well with the Wisconsin Herd, and even had a chance to have a couple of standout games with the Bucks as injuries and rest for key players led to a spell in Milwaukee late in the regular season.

Much of what Colson showed between the Bucks and Herd is how solid and reliable he generally is, and that continued to hold up in Summer League.

Realistically, Colson is a consistent three-point stroke away from sticking in the NBA on a regular roster spot (30 percent from deep in Summer League), but he continued to show enough in other areas of his game to suggest he may at least get some more time to try to make that improvement.

Colson was one of only three Bucks to play in all five games in Vegas, posting more than respectable averages of 13.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game

On this evidence, Colson should at the very least hold on to his two-way spot heading into next season with the Bucks, while it may not be implausible for him to improve enough to see that deal converted into a regular NBA contract at some point down the line.
