Milwaukee Bucks: Selecting an All-Decade roster
By Ben Sewell
11. Ersan Ilyasova
Seasons: 8
Averages: 10.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists (44.6 FG%, 36.9 3PT%)
Ersan Ilyasova has actually spent three separate stints in Milwaukee. The Turkish forward was drafted 36th overall in the 2005 Draft and played in 66 games during his rookie season, before he departed to Spain for two years. Ilyasova then returned and played six seasons between 2009 and 2015, before returning last season to play his eighth as a Buck.
Ilyasova’s best years were spent directly after the Andrew Bogut trade as he took on the role as the dominant front court player on the team and formed a formidable, if short lived Big Three with Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings. In those two seasons, Ilyasova averaged 13.1 points and 7.9 rebounds while shooting almost 45 percent from deep.
He had several real purple patches in that time, culminating in a career high performance against the Nets in 2012 where he finished with 29 points and 25 rebounds, a feat not seen in Milwaukee since the 1970s. Ilyasova subsequently earned the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the performance.
Ilyasova forced his way onto this list with his sheer volume of production on both ends of the decade and peaks as good as any Buck in the time period. At times, he has played backup center for Milwaukee, but on this list he will purely be a backup power forward for his shooting and rebounding ability.
