Milwaukee Bucks: 4 players on the roster bubble heading into training camp
Jaylen Adams
First up is second-year guard Jaylen Adams, who joined the Bucks this offseason on a training camp deal, otherwise known as an Exhibit 10 contract.
Adams comes to Milwaukee after spending his entire rookie season with the Atlanta Hawks initially as a two-way player. After putting up some strong numbers in the G League, including some monstrous scoring performances, Adams secured a multi-year, non-guaranteed deal with the Hawks in late February of last season.
From there, Adams gained consistent minutes in a reserve role to finish out the year and he averaged 3.2 points on .345/.338/.778 shooting splits, 1.9 assists, 1.8 rebounds over 12.6 minutes per game over his 34 total appearances last season.
After a poor showing at this year’s Summer League with the Hawks, the organization elected to waive Adams ahead of his salary guaranteeing for the 2019-20 season and the Bucks swooped in a few weeks later to ink Adams to a deal to fill out their 20-man roster.
While the experience he accrued over his rookie season gave Adams a chance to get his feet wet and carve out an unlikely path to the NBA after going undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft, his fight to land on the Bucks’ opening night roster is about to begin and it’s one that looks to be a long shot by all accounts.
With that said, he’ll very likely have a home in the Bucks organization as Adams will have all the chances to be a standout with the Wisconsin Herd this G League season.
