George Hill

Hill on why he re-signed with the Bucks:

"“Just the love of this city and my teammates. Talking to some of my teammates this summer, they wanted me to come back. Talking to the coaching staff, me and Bud have a great relationship, and he wanted me to come back. Just knowing it’s easy for me, I know what my role is, I know what’s expected of me. I got familiar with the system late in the season, and it carried over to the playoffs. So not wanting to go through that all over again next season and trying to find a new home, trying to get acclimated to a new system, it was easy for me to come back.”"

Hill on a deep roster sets up a battle for minutes:

"“I’m a big believer of you don’t worry about the minutes situation, you don’t worry about any of that. We should all have one common goal and that’s to win the game, no matter if you’re playing 30 minutes, 10 minutes or 30 seconds. You give it the best time and effort in that short amount of time or that long period of time. I think if we go into training camp with that one goal in mind, to be the best we can every day, to compete at a high level, in practice, in game situations, off the court, individually when you’re working out on your own thing, we’ll be fine. I think playing will take care of itself. There’s going to be situations where we’ll need everyone on this team to be a part of something special, and I think if we take that into consideration and don’t focus on what I can do for myself, but what can we do for the team, everything else will work itself out.”"

Hill on the experience of going so close last season against Toronto:

"“I think it was very humbling. You can go up 2-0 and you start to feel like you can taste going to the Finals, but to get that taste smacked right out of your mouth, it’s like someone smacks the piece of chicken out of your hand and takes the last bite of it! You’re going to be pissed. For me, going into the summer I was a little bit pissed about an opportunity that I think we’d blown. But at the same time I was excited once everyone signed back, and to see adding a guy like Wes and adding a guy like Kyle — I probably would have text Wes if I had his number at the time, but I was blowing Kyle’s phone up like, ‘You better bring your butt on board! Please come here, we need you.’ But to add guys like that, veteran leaders, who I know that in the trenches they’re ready to go to war, not going to back down from any situation. To know that that’s something we need and we have the opportunity to do something special here. To have the MVP of the league coming back with us, to have all of these other young guys that are starting to develop that you’ve seen good flashes of late in the season, it’s going to be something special. But like I said, from day one we’ve got to hit the ground, all working together, all with that common goal, and it’s not about anyone’s ego, it’s about how we can be good for this city of Milwaukee.”"

Hill on his recent shotgunning at a Packers game, and the strong relationship between the Wisconsin pro sports teams:

"“The fun part is to see all three organizations, from the Brewers to the Packers to the Bucks, really come together and support each other, because you really don’t see that in different sports. And to have all three of us come together and start to talk amongst each other, and come in and represent one another is very remarkable.”"
