Leon Gilmore III

From one former Lumberjack to another, Leon Gilmore III joins the Herd after originally taking part in a local player tryout. Going from that to making it through the roster cutdown at the end of training camp unscathed, Gilmore fought back against the odds to join his Stephen F. Austin teammate in Bogues in Oshkosh.

Gilmore will get his first taste of the G League after spending his first professional season overseas in Latvia playing for BK Jekabpils in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League.

In his 13 appearances there, Gilmore averaged 15.2 points on .481/.416/.390 shooting splits, 7.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 assists over 30.3 minutes per contest.

Before reaching the professional level, Gilmore took a circuitous route in the college ranks having transferred first from Creighton, Trinity Valley Community College before settling in at Stephen F. Austin for his junior and senior seasons from 2016 to 2018.
