Paint by numbers

After going though such a struggle offensively last time out, Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and the whole squad will be looking forward to going against a hapless defense like the one the Hawks possess.

To make matters better, Antetokounmpo and the Bucks will be going up against a Hawks defense that surrenders the most opposing paint points per game in the NBA (53.8) at this point in the season. That will be music to Antetokounmpo’s ears after he recorded just 12 points in the paint in the Bucks’ loss to the 76ers, the second-lowest mark he’s had this season.

Even with Collins back in the mix for the Hawks, their size, or lack thereof, on the interior is an incredible problem in defending and protecting the rim. And they may be without one of their few centers in Alex Len, who’s listed as doubtful with a left ankle sprain, per Brad Rowland of Peachtree Hoops.

Not only are the Hawks very susceptible defending the paint, but they’re also the worst defensive rebounding team in the league. Sporting such little resistance at the point of attack, the Bucks should have plenty of opportunities to decimate the Hawks from the inside and on multiple chances on certain possessions as well, given that they score 14.4 second chance points per game this year.

The Bucks’ meeting with the Hawks will tip off at 6.30 p.m. central time Friday night at State Farm Arena.
