A 3-point party

Saturday night was far from the defensive affair that we saw in the Bucks’ previous victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves and the shootout that broke out favored the Bucks in almost every way imaginable.

But it was the Spurs, the team that takes the fewest 3-pointers of anyone in the NBA, that was eager to match the Bucks’ firepower early on. LaMarcus Aldridge carried that torch with all four of his triples coming in the first quarter and six of San Antonio’s 11 triples came in that period as well.

As the game wore on, however, the Bucks’ collective 3-point prowess simply overmatched the Spurs and getting strong shooting nights from the likes of Antetokounmpo and Eric Bledsoe (4-for-6 from deep) certainly helped their case. In fact, the Bucks’ starters supplied 11 of the team’s 17 total treys for the night and it matched the fourth-most threes they’ve hit in a game this season.

On that note, veteran Bucks wing Wesley Matthews had a quiet return to action from his thigh contusion as he finished the night with two points and was 1-of-9 from the field (0-for-6 from deep), four rebounds and an assist in nearly 26 and a half minutes of run.

Even so, the Bucks managed to carry on without one of their more adept 3-point shooters being dialed in from that range of the floor.

The Bucks will close out their home-and-home set with the Spurs Monday night with a 7.30pm CT tilt at the AT&T Center.
