Dynamic duo

Friday night gave us all a look at the Bucks’ supporting stars Eric Bledsoe and Khris Middleton as both veterans rose up to the occasion to lead the team to victory.

It was Bledsoe who helped the Bucks find their footing after a slow start on the night, and he was able to reach double digits midway through the first quarter, thanks to his ability to penetrate the paint. That, in turn, jumpstarted the Bucks and helped them to get out to their massive 16-point lead by the end of the first quarter.

If Bledsoe was the firestarter for the night, it was Middleton who served as the steady heartbeat they needed, especially in the harried moments they experienced in the second half. The All-Star swingman was in his groove as he regularly took advantage of mismatches and comfortably got to his spots to sink his first six shot attempts for the contest.

While he wasn’t able to keep up his spotless efficiency, Middleton didn’t fall off from his strong shooting night by any means and acted as the team’s offensive engine during their third quarter rally after briefly losing the lead to the Kings. The former Aggie did all of this while Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer regularly deployed small-ball lineups that extensively featured Middleton as the team’s center over those stretches.

The duo of Bledsoe and Middleton combined to go for 51 points (27 for Middleton, 24 for Bledsoe) on the night to power the Bucks and the formula worked out well for all involved.
