Milwaukee Bucks: 3 things to watch for in Sacramento Kings’ sole visit of the season
By Adam McGee
Rotation in flux
Monday night will likely come just a little too soon for Marvin Williams to make his Bucks’ debut, but it’s not entirely out of the question depending on how quickly Milwaukee can take care of his physical and all of the details surrounding his arrival and Dragan Bender‘s departure.
Either way, this is a point in the Bucks’ season where the decisions when it comes to bench minutes are worth watching particularly closely.
Not only will Williams likely figure prominently whenever his signing is fully official, but with George Hill likely set to return from his recent injury in the not so distant future, there simply won’t be enough minutes for players who have at times played important roles over Milwaukee’s last few games.
Sterling Brown and Pat Connaughton are both under pressure to make all of their opportunities count, if they want to remain in the rotation beyond Hill’s return, while even Donte DiVincenzo will be wary of needing to snap out of his very recent offensive slump if he wants to make sure he doesn’t lose any of his minutes.
In the frontcourt, Williams’ arrival will lead to real uncertainty for Ersan Ilyasova, while Robin Lopez could see his minutes reduced if the Bucks opt to play smaller with greater frequency too. For D.J. Wilson, the path to minutes is looking increasingly impossible.
In other words, there should be no shortage of motivation for players across the Bucks’ roster, as with the team’s depth only getting even further fortified, the battle for minutes is tougher than ever.
The Bucks’ game at the Kings will get underway at 7pm CT from Fiserv Forum on Monday night.
