Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 2020 NBA All-Star Game
Captain leading the ship
Having lost to Team LeBron last year, Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo had plenty to prove as he looked to lead his squad in the hopes of completing a revenge victory.
Antetokounmpo finished with 25 points on 21 shots (1-for-4 from deep, 0-for-2 from the foul line), 11 rebounds, four assists, three blocks, one steal as well as one turnover and was a -7 on the night.
As has long been the case throughout his previous All-Star appearances, Antetokounmpo flourished within the early dunkfest that broke out within the first half of last night’s game. And he did so doing things that only Antetokounmpo can do, such as going coast-to-coast at breakneck speed and slaloming through world class players on his way to the cup.
When he wasn’t relentlessly attacking the basket, the reigning MVP struggled from elsewhere on the floor, save for knocking down his lone triple midway through the third period. And Antetokounmpo certainly felt the defensive pressure trying to create his own shot once we hit the highly entertaining fourth quarter.
At the same time, Antetokounmpo made game-saving plays on the other side of the ball, including blocking LeBron James not once, but twice to keep his team within range of taking home the victory. And Antetokounmpo was flying on the floor trying to save loose balls and make unlikely plays out of thin air to keep his team alive.
In the end, it all went for naught and Antetokounmpo is still searching for his first All-Star Game victory. Perhaps that changes next year.
