Donte’s Stellar Play
This is the most exciting development of late. Donte DiVincenzo has been playing wonderful basketball. In his last four games, Donte has averaged 15.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.3 steals, while shooting 57.5 percent from the field, and 42.9 percent from three.
The most promising thing about his performance of late is that it came against solid opponents. That stretch included three playoff teams: Miami, Indiana, and Los Angeles Lakers.
Bucks fans had to be giddy watching Donte play against L.A. Outside of Giannis, the Bucks were getting no production. That all changed in the third quarter. L.A. went on a tear and ended up outscoring Milwaukee 39-28, but without Donte, the game would’ve turned into a blowout. He scored 12 of his 17 points in the quarter and kept the Bucks in the game. He went 5-of-6 from the field, including 2-of-3 from distance.
These stretches have become more and more frequent for Donte, and he’s proving to be an extremely valuable commodity. His energy is contagious, he’s a hounding defender, his jump shot is falling, and he’s gotten better at finishing at the rim.
Donte had already been having a wonderful sophomore campaign, but this recent stretch amplified that. Hopefully it’s a sign of good things to come if and when play does return, as he could be the puzzle-piece Milwaukee was desperately missing last postseason.
