In our latest look at the 2020 NBA Draft, we dive into the game of sophomore Minnesota big man, Daniel Oturu.
Having just declared for the 2020 NBA Draft last week, Daniel Oturu is attempting to do what no Minnesota Golden Gopher has done in nearly 16 years.
No Minnesota product has been selected in the first round of the NBA Draft since retired big man Kris Humphries did so back in 2004 and it’s Oturu who has the best shot of breaking that mark whenever the draft will be held this summer.

That’s thanks to the notable leap the Brooklyn-born Oturu made between his freshman and sophomore campaigns for Minnesota to become the focal point of the team’s offense under head coach Richard Pitino during the 2019-20 season.
In his 31 appearances for the Golden Gophers this season, Oturu averaged 20.1 points on a .563/.365/.707 slash line, 11.3 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.1 assists across 33.9 minutes per contest.
And for his impressive work this year, Oturu was named to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team as well as the All-Big Ten Second Team to cap off his illustrious collegiate career.
So without further ado, let’s delve into the game of Daniel Oturu by looking at his strengths and weaknesses, how draft experts currently rate him, and examine his potential fit with the Milwaukee Bucks.
