Milwaukee Bucks: Josh Green stands as intriguing NBA Draft wing target
Strengths
Watch any game or highlight package of Green’s and it becomes quickly apparent that he strictly plays at one speed: fast.
With an alluring blend of explosive athleticism and blazing speed, Green never stays still as he is always quick to run out in the open floor and thrives playing in transition where he’s prone to throw down a variety of propulsive, breakaway dunks and generally live above the rim.
But Green possesses more than just end-to-end speed as he’s equally capable of shifting and bobbing and weaving as he slashes his way through the paint in halfcourt siutations. And the same goes for his near-constant movement off the ball where he’s very capable of taking advantage of inattentive opposing defenders and stands as a nice lob target for lead ball handlers.
Green’s many physical and athletic gifts certainly lend themselves well on the defensive side of the ball where he will be expected to play a significant role as a versatile backcourt defender.
The 19-year-old’s exceptional foot speed, reported 6’10” wingspan and anticipation all show in his ability to guard multiple positions and get his hands into passing lanes or just stonewall opposing ball handlers from the perimeter. And the drive to be a game-breaking defender only adds to the potential he has in that regard.
