Giannis Antetokounmpo: Ranking the NBA’s best international players ever
By Adam McGee
Steve Nash
If Antetokounmpo is voted Most Valuable Player for whatever the 2019-20 season ends up being, he will join a pretty exclusive club of back-to-back MVP winners, which includes Steve Nash among its more recent luminaries.
Born in South Africa before moving to Canada at a very early age, Nash famously never got over the hump in terms of winning an NBA championship, at least as a player as he has since been involved as a consultant during the Warriors’ recent golden era.
On an individual front, the point guard achieved just about all there was to achieve in the NBA, though. Along with his consecutive MVP awards in 2005 and 2006, Nash made eight All-Star teams, and was selected to All-NBA rosters on seven occasions.
Beyond awards, Nash’s play style as a floor general and one of the game’s great playmakers also left an indelible mark on the league’s record books. Having finished as the NBA’s assists leader on five occasions, Nash is third all-time in terms of NBA assists, trailing just Jason Kidd and John Stockton.
In total, that amounts to an incredible career and a player whose legacy will live on in the memory of fans for a long, long time to come.
