Milwaukee Bucks: Tyrell Terry stands as skilled NBA Draft guard prospect
Fit with the Bucks
Standing as the promising and high-level shooter that he is at this stage, Terry will almost certainly catch the attention of the Bucks’ front office during this pre-draft process.
The fact that Terry has the capacity to run an offense and is an adept ball handler only increases those chances of the Stanford product being considered where the Bucks eventually fall in the first round, given that guard will be a position needing to be addressed over the next year.
Continuing to refine his abilities as a lead guard and improving upon his frame adds to the question that he stands as more of a project compared to being an instant contributor upon entering the NBA. Luckily, Terry’s sharpshooting does bolster the possibility that he may not languish away on the bench in his first or second season.
For a Bucks team that has fallen in love with the long ball over the last couple of seasons, shooting and spacing the floor is among the prerequisites of all newcomers and/or core players in Milwaukee. But bringing up their total 3-point proficiency is a crucial hurdle for the Bucks to tackle, given how everything is designed through superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Adding Terry through the draft doesn’t change that by itself, of course. But the 19-year-old being able to be a threat both on and off the ball and hitting such a high rate of threes on an incredible volume of attempts is the kind of thing that can really raise the Bucks’ offensive firepower even more than where it stands today.
There’s a lot that still remains unanswered in regard to whether Terry will officially keep his name in the draft as he strongly indicated he would. If he holds true on that promise, Terry is a player to keep an eye on.
