Milwaukee Bucks NBA Draft Prospect – Grant Riller: Strengths

Clearly, Riller’s incredible paint penetration and sublime finishing at the basket headlines his allure as a prospect.

The combination of RIller’s absolute fearlessness, blazing first step, skilled ball-handling and ambidextrous shooting touch all lead him to repeatedly drive into the heart of opposing defenses on a nightly basis. And per Hoop-Math, Riller converted a blistering 70.4 percent of his scoring opportunities at the rim as a senior.

Along with that, Riller has gotten accustomed to absorbing plenty of contact along the way and it’s helped him to increasingly get to the free throw line over his four years with the Cougars. This season, Riller averaged 8.2 free throw attempts per 40 minutes and converted his free throws at a a career-high 82.7 percent clip.

While Riller may be at his best beating opposing defenders off the dribble one-on-one or weaving his way through the paint through pick-and-rolls, he does have a sturdy perimeter game to supplement his attacking prowess.

Riller stands as a career 35.6 percent 3-point shooter on a 526 3-point attempts throughout his four years in Charleston. That may stand as average efficiency, but Riller does offer up the ability and potential to rise and fire away from deep to go along with his solid shooting skills off the ball.
