Milwaukee Bucks: 3 things Donte DiVincenzo needs to take the next step – Attacking and finishing at the basket

One of the key real-time improvements DiVincenzo has sported throughout his second NBA season has been his attacking off the dribble.

DiVincenzo’s ball handling abilities, blazing first step, explosiveness and his fearlessness pushing toward the paint contributed to the growing scoring surge he was enjoying right before the season was paused. And it showed in his efficiency finishing at the basket as DIVincenzo managed to convert 64.1 percent of his scoring opportunities within the restricted area this year.

It was clear that you could see the game slowing down for the 23-year-old as the season has gone along, something that Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer spoke about to Kane Pitman in a piece for the Sporting News last month:

"“I just think he’s scoring in different ways, he’s getting to the basket and finishing and when he starts making threes it adds up,” Budenholzer said of the uptick in scoring. “I think he’s getting more comfortable, he’s seeing the court, seeing opportunities but we need him to be aggressive, we need him to be a guy that’s attacking but more of it is just his growth, his maturation, his comfort level with everything in his second year.”"

Giving his team that dynamic and dribble penetration is huge for DiVincenzo’s projection moving forward and his brand of spark plug scoring is only enhanced by the total impact he can make on both ends of the floor.
