Milwaukee Bucks NBA Draft Prospect Watch: Leandro Bolmaro
Milwaukee Bucks NBA Draft Prospect Watch – Leandro Bolmaro: Strengths
For starters, Bolmaro comes to the court brandishing an incredibly exciting ability to control the offense with the ball in his hands.
That’s made even more noticeable by the fact that Bolmaro, at 6’7″, can confidently handle, potentially take on significant ball handling duties, and see and survey the floor from a higher vantage point than a traditional point guard. All of that adds to the uncanny potential Bolmaro holds in being able to bend and manipulate opposing defenses at the point of attack.
But Bolmaro’s distinctive flashiness doesn’t end there as he’s very crafty when driving at or on his way to the basket and he’s often quick to rely on his shooting touch to hit floaters and/or runners over opposing rim protectors.
On the defensive side of the ball, Bolmaro’s tenacity, great foot speed and size helps him greatly to bother opposing ball handlers at the point of attack. Bolmaro evens shows a strong sense of how to maneuver around screens and has great recovery skills as well. And Bolmaro averaged 1.27 steals per game and a 3.9 steal percentage across all competitions this season.
And while Bolmaro’s overaggressiveness defending off the ball sometimes leads to him making simple mistakes, his understanding and reading of the game has the potential for him to carry over his disruptive defending in that sense as well.
