Milwaukee Bucks NBA Draft Prospect Watch: Leandro Bolmaro
Milwaukee Bucks NBA Draft Prospect Watch – Leandro Bolmaro: Weaknesses
As much as Bolmaro’s wizardry, vision and knack for making flashy and spectacular plays headlines his allure as a prospect, being able to rein in his flair and occasional carelessness with the ball in his hands will be crucial when he eventually reaches the NBA.
Bolmaro holds a 1.21 assist-to-turnover ratio to this point in his career, though he did post a 1.71 assist-to-turnover ratio when playing limited minutes for Barcelona in the Liga ACB as well as the EuroLeague.
Another potential concern to monitor is Bolmaro’s lack of explosion when barreling toward the basket. Bolmaro’s shot creation and handling ability certainly come in handy, but trying to penetrate and explode with the limited vertical athleticism he possesses against NBA-caliber athletes and big men is a different kind of challenge that he hasn’t regularly seen to this point in his career.
But easily the biggest question hanging over Bolmaro, especially as it relates to play off the ball, is being able to adequately space the floor and stand as an effective shooter.
To this point in his professional career across Argentina and Spain, Bolmaro is a 28.5 percent 3-point shooter. Complicating this even further is the fact that Bolmaro is a 66.3 percent career free throw shooter, which obviously indicates that the Argentinian will be in need of a better shooting foundation to unlock his shooting stroke.
While he has been capable of hitting threes on the move, there’s still a long road ahead for Bolmaro to become a functional option to stretch opposing defenses.
