Milwaukee Bucks NBA Draft Prospect Watch: Robert Woodard II – Strengths
It’s easy to see upon first glance of Woodard’s game that he boasts a remarkable physical profile, befitting of a modern 3-and-D forward.
And it’s Woodard’s athleticism and incredible explosiveness that literally jumps off the screen as the Mississippi native puts that to good use as his bounciness propels him to throw down dunks, alley-oops, and put backs. Any dunk you want to name, Woodard’s got it down pat.
Beyond that, though, Woodard’s athletic qualities permeate the vast majority of his skills and strengths at this point in his game and that obviously shines on the defensive end.
Woodard’s blend of size, strength and leaping ability makes up for his versatility and his Swiss-army knife defensive potential is incredibly tantalizing. And the fact that Woodard is often at the center of disrupting opposing defenses, whether it’s sniffing out passing lanes or helping to send away a shot attempt into the crowd, is all established in his budding skill-set.
As much as those highlight plays make up his game, Woodard is a very sound and productive rebounder on both ends of the floor where he pulled down 8.4 rebounds per-40 minutes on the college level. And his motor certainly shows while tracking down offensive rebounds or capitalizing on putback opportunities as well.
Offensively, Woodard is obviously an incredibly athletic finisher that goes beyond his magnetizing dunking abilities. Per Hoop-Math, Woodard converted 68.5 percent of his scoring opportunities at the rim this season and that’s been especially helped by his cutting off the ball and exploding in transition.
