And during that time, Tillie went all the way to the NCAA championship game as a sophomore, as well as earning a pair of All-WCC selections, first with the second team as a sophomore and within the first team as a senior.
For as many highs, both with the team and individually, as Tillie went on to experience, his time at Gonzaga was also littered with many lows.
The long list of injuries Tillie suffered while in Spokane limited his time on the court, and from going on to enjoy further successes on the collegiate level. The level of adversity that Tillie experienced and fought to simply get on the court certainly made his desire to play that much greater as he talked about with Jim Meehan of The Spokesman-Review:
"“Adversity makes me hungrier,” Tillie said. “Everything is harder, but that shows my character and just makes me stronger and hungrier. Every time I’m on the court I’m always enjoying the moment because I didn’t have a lot of moments.”"
In his 24 appearances as a senior this season, Tillie averaged 13.6 points on .535/.400/.726 shooting splits, 5.o rebounds, 1.9 assists, a steal and 0.8 blocks across 24.6 minutes per contest.
