Milwaukee Bucks: Revisiting 50-point games throughout franchise history
Revisiting 50-point games throughout Milwaukee Bucks history – Giannis Antetokounmpo
Following the footsteps of Abdul-Jabbar is quite the tough act to follow, but current Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has certainly gotten used to that by now over his seven-year stint in Milwaukee.
As Antetokounmpo’s star has ascended in recent years, the only analog by comparison remaining in Bucks history is Abdul-Jabbar and the longer Antetokounmpo stays in Milwaukee, the greater the chances that Antetokounmpo will end up breaking many of Abdul-Jabbar’s long-standing team records.
Whether that will include reaching Abdul-Jabbar’s number of 50-point games is obviously a tough task. After all, it was during Antetokounmpo’s MVP-winning season during 2018-19 where the Greek phenom compiled his first 50-point game, which came during a 130-125 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on St. Patrick’s Day last year.
Antetokounmpo added another 50-point performance during the currently suspended 2019-20 season, which came back on November 25, 2019 in 122-118 win over the Utah Jazz, and it was a game that worth celebrating beyond breaking the 50-point mark as my co-site expert Adam McGee detailed here.
In all honesty, the only thing standing in the way of Antetokounmpo’s pursuit of composing more 50-point games is seeing the floor long enough on a nightly basis to enjoy such a feat. As the Bucks are currently assembled, that’s clearly a good problem to have.
