3 things to watch for in Milwaukee Bucks’ return vs. Boston Celtics: Rotation decisions

If the Bucks and Celtics play in the postseason this year, there’s every chance that the Bucks’ lineups could look very different then to how they’ll map out on Friday night.

Put simply, the Bucks’ rotation will be something of a curiosity for this one.

Eric Bledsoe and Pat Connaughton will remain on the sidelines as they continue their respective recoveries from COVID-19, having only recently cleared quarantine in Orlando and returned to regular team practice. Meanwhile, the groin injury that kept Marvin Williams out of the final scrimmage could also see him miss out on Friday too.

That leaves a relatively simple frontcourt picture, but there’s much more intrigue in the backcourt, where Donte DiVincenzo will likely start at point guard in Bledsoe’s stead, with George Hill being relied upon for major contributions at that spot off the bench too.

The Bucks will also turn to Sterling Brown for more significant minutes than he’s seen for most of the season, while if Frank Mason III recovers from his recent back soreness, the G League MVP could yet see extended NBA run too.

Given the room for uncertainty surrounding everything in the bubble as the season progresses, the Bucks may end up needing to rely on their depth in the months ahead, and how the rotation starts out for the restart could prove to be more important than many would have anticipated.
