Takeaways from Milwaukee Bucks’ 119-106 loss to Memphis Grizzlies: Donte (kinda) shows progress

One of the most concerning elements of Milwaukee’s play in the postseason has been the terrible form of key guard Donte DiVincenzo.

Prior to the season’s suspension, DiVincenzo was enjoying a terrific year, having had a significant breakout that made him a frequent spot starter and one of the Bucks’ most important contributors off the bench.

In Orlando, though, DiVincenzo’s defense has fallen below his usual sky-high standards, he’s struggled to make shots, and he’s been a turnover machine.

Those issues weren’t all resolved by any means on Thursday, but there was some cause for encouragement.

DiVincenzo scored 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-5 from deep, which marked a major jump on his previous bubble high of 11 points.

DiVincenzo did commit five turnovers once again, though, marking the third time it’s happened in Orlando. Considering what the Bucks ask of DiVincenzo, that’s simply unacceptable. If it continues into the playoffs, it will cause Milwaukee major problems, regardless of whether his shooting picks up.
