Milwaukee Bucks: Analyzing a potentially shorter playoff rotation – Donte DiVincenzo: Sit
This is a tough decision to sit Donte DiVincenzo, considering how valuable he was for Milwaukee during the regular season (he ranked in the top-f percent of the league in PIPM this year). But he just hasn’t been able to find that same spark which made him so great before the bubble. The same all-around efficiency and energy hasn’t been there, and the stats show that.
He’s making only 25 percent of his threes and 40 percent of his shots in total. For every assist, he has one turnover; his decision making has just seemed off thus far. He’s still remained solid by acting as a down and dirty team defender, but the fact that having the ball in his hands on the offensive end has become a burden, negates that.
The Bucks will need consistent shooting and safe playmaking deep into the playoffs; DiVincenzo unfortunately hasn’t been able to provide this thus far.
Sitting him now is not a knock on his long term fit with the team – he will still be a very valuable asset next season – one just has to ask if he’s just quite ready for the bright lights yet.
