Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 103-94 Game 5 loss to Miami Heat – Getting saucy
Much of the Bucks’ performance was incredibly brutal for Game 5, but Donte DiVincenzo’s own outing was a silver lining amid a season coming to a crashing end.
The second-year guard shot out of a cannon by hitting a pair of threes and converting a cutting layup that helped jumpstart the Bucks not long into the game. DiVincenzo followed up with a similar run to start the second half where he drew a foul when attacking the basket, knocked in his third and final triple and climbed the ladder to put down an impressive putback that brought the Bucks within 1 of the Heat with 9:27 to go in the third.
Doing all of that while providing his usual trademark hustle and sturdy defending, DiVincenzo certainly continued the late progress he had shown over the series against the Heat. It may have been overdue and came far too late in the series, but DiVincenzo’s return to relevancy was at least a reassuring note for his sophomore season to end on, despite the far too early finish for the Bucks in general.
All in all, DiVincenzo finished with 17 points on 5-for-9 shooting (3-for-6 from downtown, 4-for-5 from the free throw line), four rebounds, two turnovers, one assist, a steal in nearly 28 minutes of run.
Despite his struggles in the bubble, the future is certainly bright for The Big Ragu.
