Milwaukee Bucks: 5 shooting guards to target in free agency – Courtney Lee

Playing in just 58 games over the past two seasons, Courtney Lee has not spent much time on the court. Whether it be because of injury or simply falling out of the Dallas Mavericks’ rotation, Lee could use a fresh start elsewhere, and the Milwaukee Bucks could be a viable option.

Lee’s 2019-20 season stats are not the most eye-popping, as he averaged a mere 4.5 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in 14.4 minutes per game. The guard did shoot 48.8 percent from the field and 44.7 percent from deep but attempted just 3.4 field goals and 2.0 3-pointers per game. All in all, Lee’s role was virtually nonexistent with the team in the 24 games he was fortunate enough to play in this year.

A description like that might have Bucks’ hesitant even to give the 35-year-old a chance. However, Lee has made his NBA career serving as a top-notch defender and prolific 3-point shooter, two aspects of the game that the Milwaukee Bucks desire the most. The 6’5″ wing has always been a solid defender, not backing down from the tallest of tasks, and his career 38.8 3-point percentage could be useful in Milwaukee’s system.

For the Milwaukee Bucks, a move like this is a low-risk, high-reward scenario all-around. Lee is not going to command a lucrative deal after just 24 games this season, and his skill set fits right in with a team that is not the most flexible financially. If the Bucks could get Courtney Lee on a team-friendly deal, it would substantially add to their wing depth.
