Milwaukee Bucks: Buy or sell on Pat Connaughton in free agency – What to sell

The most apparent flaw in Pat Connaughton’s game is undoubtedly his shooting, particularly from long range. Pat shot just 33.0 percent from deep in his first season with the Milwaukee Bucks and followed that up this season by shooting 33.1 percent from 3-point range.

Shooting the ball remains Pat’s kryptonite, and his inconsistency offensively only adds fuel to the fire. For reference, Connaughton’s monthly 3-point percentages throughout the 2019-20 season look like a roller coaster ride more than anything else.

  • October- 44.4 percent
  • November- 23.3 percent
  • December- 33.3 percent
  • January- 24.0 percent
  • February- 50.0 percent
  • March- 15.3 percent
  • September- 34.4 percent

Connaughton did not exactly earn himself a raise either after an abysmal showing against the Miami Heat in the second round. Appearing in all five games, the 27-year-old averaged 1.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game while shooting 25.7 percent from the field and 20.0 percent from 3-point territory.

For a Milwaukee team that thrives off of the success of its shooters, Connaughton does not exactly fit the mold as much as they would like him to. Looking for a more consistent shooter from distance might be on their to-do list this offseason, but only time will tell.
