Milwaukee Bucks: The 3 biggest hurdles in pursuing Bogdan Bogdanovic – Out of Bucks’ price range

There’s no question that this class of free agents will face the financial crunch that all 30 NBA teams are facing in light of the coronavirus pandemic impacting the league and disrupting the league’s calendar.

Of the crop of free agents this year, only a precious few will likely force teams to break the bank and go above, say, the midlevel exception and into eight figure salaries. The question of whether Bogdanovic will be among that crop of lucky players remains to be seen, but he stands as one of the most coveted restricted free agents hitting the market.

Unfortunately, the Bucks can only offer so much as the largest resource they have available to them in free agency is their projected $9.3 million midlevel exception. Their aforementioned cap constraints, all of which are tied to having the long-term salaries they have on their books, is the reason why that is the case.

As if there wasn’t already a question as to what Bogdanovic’s price range will end up being by the time free agency starts, the angle of what kind of offer sheet will make the Kings think twice about re-signing Bogdanovic hangs over all of this.

Many questions exist around Bogdanovic’s future in Sacramento and his free agency itself, but make no mistake, the Bucks aren’t in a position to hold the Kings’ feet to the fire with a high paying offer sheet to the Serbian shooting guard. Not by a longshot.
