5 guards for Milwaukee Bucks to target at 24th overall pick – Theo Maledon

For our next target, we’re going overseas and looking at a ball handler who has been mocked to the Bucks in mock drafts by various outlets.

French guard Theo Maledon offers up a different level of experience as he’s developed and played a supporting role for the Tony Parker-owned club, ASVEL, and has played significant minutes in the EuroLeague last season as a teenager.

Under Parker’s mentorship, the 19-year-old has steadily blossomed into a solid ball handler and initiator and with his size and ball handling ability, Maledon is a steady driver and who routinely plays in control. Additionally, Maledon’s outside shooting capabilities give him the ability to play off a leading creator like Giannis Antetokounmpo, even as he just hit 33.3 percent of his 117 3-point attempts across all competitions last year.

On the other side of the ball, Maledon’s size, physical tools and decent athleticism could make him a worthwhile fit with how the Bucks’ guards defend on the perimeter and within the defensive scheme.

While Maledon doesn’t offer the kind of explosiveness the Bucks might find in other guards within this range, the steady floor general qualities and solid skill level he has sharpened while in Europe is a strong base to build on upon making the jump to the NBA.
