Milwaukee Bucks: 3 players who might not return next season – Ersan Ilyasova

After nine years and three different stints with the Milwaukee Bucks, Ersan Ilyasova might be on his way out the door once again. The Turkish big man finds himself with an uncertain contract situation heading into the offseason as the final $7 million of his deal is not guaranteed for the 2020-21 season.

Given how Ersan’s season transpired, it would be a shocking revelation if Milwaukee guaranteed his deal with the intent to keep him on the roster.

Ilyasova played a serviceable role in Mike Budenholzer’s rotation, averaging 6.6 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, and 0.8 assists per game as the team’s backup power forward. However, the midseason acquisition of Marvin Williams from the buyout market put a dent in Ilyasova’s playing time, limiting him to just 23 total postseason minutes.

Dishing out $7 million to a player that proved obsolete would be a bold move by the Bucks unless they were doing it with the intention to trade him. Ilyasova’s salary would be a key component to any substantial trade that Milwaukee might look to make this offseason. Whether the organization guarantees Ersan Ilyasova’s deal for next season or not, it seems unlikely that he will suit up for the team once more.
