Milwaukee Bucks: 3 factors to consider in a potential Victor Oladipo trade – Looking at building blocks

Let’s get down to the nitty gritty when it comes to building up any trade package to make for Oladipo.

The biggest expandable piece that the Bucks are willing to deal at this stage is Eric Bledsoe, who will be owed $16.8 million for next year and is under contract until the 2022-23 season. With Oladipo’s expiring $21 million salary, Bledsoe’s salary is the closest that comes to matching the money owed to Oladipo before we get into the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton (No, neither one are getting traded).

But when you break it down, the Pacers potentially forming an all-Bucks backcourt between Bledsoe and Malcolm Brogdon doesn’t seem like a scenario that the Pacers front office led by Kevin Pritchard wants to implement. Same could easily apply to Brogdon, who was wooed by Indiana and the ability to play more on the ball than he had done in Milwaukee to that point in his career.

Go further down the Bucks’ cap sheet and finding a central piece for a deal that would interest Indiana gets tougher. Brook Lopez only crowds the Pacers’ loaded frontcourt situation between Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner and rumors continue to swirl over whether the Pacers will look to break that tandem up this offseason.

Even as the threat of Oladipo leaving through free agency in a year exists, it’s hard to imagine the Pacers being interested in ancillary pieces like George Hill, Ersan Ilyasova’s non-guaranteed $7 million salary and other filler to make up a deal.

That all brings us back to Bledsoe and how the Bucks could potentially sweeten the pot to truly get an Oladipo trade off the ground.
