Milwaukee Bucks: 3 factors to consider in a potential Victor Oladipo trade – Sweetening a deal

While Bledsoe is clearly a starting-caliber NBA player and one that doesn’t exactly address the Pacers’ needs going forward, the Bucks would have to dip further into their roster and assets to get a package off the ground.

It’s from there that a deal would get even trickier, given the Bucks’ limited crop of draft assets and cost-controlled contracts. The most notable of those assets are the 24th overall pick in this year’s draft, which obviously comes with the Pacers via the Malcolm Brogdon sign-and-trade deal last offseason, and second-year guard Donte DiVincenzo.

Whether the Pacers want to recoup their own draft selection to get into the first round of the draft remains to be seen. While the Bucks may be willing to part with their lone draft pick this offseason in the name of adding someone of Oladipo’s caliber, it would be understandable why Indiana would balk at receiving the 24th overall pick in this year’s draft for someone who was an All-NBA-caliber player just two years ago.

As for DiVincenzo, the biggest question is what is the trade value for the 23-year-old who essentially has one year of productivity on record to judge from from an opposing team’s perspective. It’s clear the Bucks have prized DiVincenzo from the moment they hosted him for a draft workout and they wouldn’t part ways with their lone developing piece in their foundation for nothing.

Of course, the Bucks’ valuation in someone like DiVincenzo is naturally going to be higher than all 29 other teams that don’t have DiVincenzo on their roster. From that lens, they have to be rational in valuing his place within the Bucks’ foundation versus potentially cashing him in for an upgrade like Oladipo potentially offers.
