Milwaukee Bucks: Where does the current point guard rotation stand? – George Hill

After being traded to the Bucks midway through the 2018-19 seaosn, bringing George Hill back on a three-year, $28.8 million extension seemed like a great fit for both sides. This season, Hill served as a feasible sixth man for the Bucks and even got some recognition in the Sixth Man of the Year running earlier this year.

Appearing in 59 regular season games, the guard averaged 9.4 points on .516/.460/.842 shooting splits, 3.1 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game. Hill’s 46.0 percent 3-point shooting led the league this season, and the floor spacing proved to be much needed up until the NBA’s restart, where he had lost all momentum shooting the ball.

Now, Hill remains somewhere in the middle as the Bucks question what to do at the point guard position. With the team looking for upgrades, Hill’s $9.6 million annual salary could be desirable for teams looking to match salaries in any top-heavy trades for someone like Chris Paul, for instance.

The 34-year-old Hill might be past the point in his career where he can be a full-time starter, best fit to be a reserve, as seen with Milwaukee this season. If the Bucks can swing a trade for a household point guard while keeping George Hill on the roster, having him in that role again next season would be an ideal choice.
