Milwaukee Bucks: 3 possible trade targets from Atlantic Division – Spencer Dinwiddie, Brooklyn Nets

The Bucks’ hunt for a point guard this offseason has them linked to several different candidates, and Spencer Dinwiddie of the Brooklyn Nets could be one of them.

Dinwiddie continues getting better with each passing year, and his 2019-20 campaign was undoubtedly his strongest outing yet. In 64 games with the Brooklyn Nets, the 27-year-old averaged 20.6 points on .415/.308/.778 shooting splits, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game. Immediately, several stats here jump off the page.

The guard’s scoring prowess at 20.6 points is surely intriguing, but his 6.8 assists should also be eye-catching. The Bucks are in the market for playmaking at the guard position this offseason, and Dinwiddie fits the bill.

However, sticking with his offense, Dinwiddie’s lackluster 3-point shooting might make him a hard sell for a Milwaukee team that relies so heavily on the long-ball. Launching 6.3 shots from deep per game, he connected on just 30.8 percent of them, not making him the high-level floor spacer that the team prefers.

Still, depending on how Dinwiddie’s situation plays out with the Nets, the Bucks could keep an eye out. Of course, Brooklyn has their All-Star tandem of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant coming back healthy, and rumblings have been going on for months that the team could look to bring in a certified third star to complement them. If that is the case, Dinwiddie will likely be on the move through trade with a handful of intrigued suitors.

On the books for approximately $11.5 million next season and holding a player option for $12.3 million in 2021-22, Dinwiddie’s current contract is easy to absorb for a team like the Bucks. Spencer Dinwiddie is likely not atop most lists for the Bucks’ point guard search, but he is a viable option.
