Milwaukee Bucks: Ranking 5 potential trade candidates this offseason – No. 4 Dennis Schröder, Oklahoma City Thunder
With a point guard among the Bucks’ most apparent needs this offseason, Dennis Schröder of the Oklahoma City Thunder poses an intriguing case.
The 27-year-old finished as the runner-up in last season’s Sixth Man of the Year voting as he averaged 18.9 points on .469/.385/.839 shooting slashes, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. Now, OKC seems destined for a rebuild and could look to move several key pieces of their roster, including Schröder.
Schröder is a viable floor spacer and playmaker, two of the biggest holes that need filling on Milwaukee’s roster. The guard averaged 38.5 percent from deep on 5.0 attempts per game this season, both of which were career-bests for the seven-year veteran. His playmaking was not as strong as previous outings, averaging just 4.0 assists per game on the year, but Oklahoma City’s overloaded talent at the guard position is sure to take some blame for that.
Set to make $15.5 million next season on an expiring deal, Schröder would also be an affordable acquisition for the Bucks compared to other top-tier targets. Looking back, Schroder also listed the Bucks as a team he could see himself getting traded to in 2018, saying “the organization is going in the right direction.”
Whether that potential interest still persists, especially with his former head coach Mike Budenholzer running the show, remains to be seen. If so, Dennis Schröder could be a solid addition to Milwaukee’s backcourt.
