Milwaukee Bucks: Where wing rotation stands going into offseason – Pat Connaughton

Where the Bucks hold the cards over Brown’s future in Milwaukee, the same can’t be said for them when it comes to Pat Connaughton’s upcoming free agency.

The 27-year-old has certainly made his mark in Milwaukee over the last two years as a solid depth wing for head coach Mike Budenholzer. Connaughton’s physical and athletic attributes have made him a solid and valuable defender as he’s grown in being able to chase sharpshooters around the floor and block shots on the perimeter.

Conversely, the one hole remaining his game is being able to master his 3-point shooting inconsistencies. Connaughton is coming off a season in which he averaged 5.4 points per game on 33.1 percent shooting from three, the latter number falling slightly under his 34.4 percent career average.

The lasting images of Connaughton’s second Bucks season was memorable for all of the wrong reasons as Milwaukee ultimately fell to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. With that said, Connaughton’s playoff struggles haven’t affected his interest around the league, with one team in the Cleveland Cavaliers standing as a reported suitor.

Milwaukee has the ability to sign Connaughton over the salary cap, thanks to holding his early bird rights. But we’ll have to see whether they’ll face some competition in potentially bringing the Notre Dame product back for another go.
