Milwaukee Bucks: Comparing assets for Chris Paul trade to other teams – New York Knicks
After missing the playoffs for the seventh consecutive year, the New York Knicks need to make a move to get them back into the postseason mix, and Chris Paul is a step in the right direction. The Knicks have been a recurring name in the Paul sweepstakes for that reason, and they have the assets to get a deal done.
Their No. 8 overall draft pick in this upcoming draft is undoubtedly the most desirable asset at their disposal, but they also possess the No. 27 pick from the L.A. Clippers via the Marcus Morris Sr. trade. In addition to their picks, the Knicks have a slew of young players that could be enticing for OKC, such as Frank Ntilikina, Elfrid Payton, and Julius Randle.
According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Thunder prefer Kevin Knox II in return for Paul in any deal, the ninth overall pick in the 2018 draft. Berman noted that the Knicks would favor keeping Knox, they would likely have to cough him up to acquire the 10-time All-Star.
If they do elect to ship him out, New York’s small forward vacancy will not be open for long, as rumors have been swirling that Paul’s long time friend and former Knick Carmelo Anthony could entertain a return to the Big Apple if his pal lands there. That could make New York more willing if they are trying to make a genuine push for the playoffs in the immediate future.
New York’s draft capital and collection of young players is undoubtedly a compelling combination for a Thunder team that is trending towards a rebuild. With that, the Knicks give the Milwaukee Bucks some stiff competition in trying to pull off a blockbuster move for Chris Paul.
