Milwaukee Bucks: Dark Horse Trade Scenarios – Justise Winslow for George Hill, DJ Wilson, 2022 second round pick

Although he has yet to play a game with the Memphis Grizzlies, Justise Winslow’s versatile talents and playmaking would be an interesting within Milwaukee’s system.

The size and defensive versatility Winslow brings to the table is exactly what the Bucks need on defense, especially when their starters aren’t on the floor. And given Winslow’s ability to handle the ball, perhaps that gives the Bucks a leading creator within their second unit as well as a small ball 4 next to Antetokounmpo in those situations.

With two years and $26 million left on his current deal, including a $13 million team option for the 2021-22 season, Winslow gives any team some flexibility, depending on his ability to stay healthy and be productive on the court.

As the Grizzlies have put all of the eggs in their youth movement, with Rookie of the Year Ja Morant as the new face of the franchise, the odd fit Winslow provides could make him a rental to flip for more viable pieces.

Could that be where someone like George Hill would be of use to the Grizzlies? While Hill may be more suited for a team like the Bucks who will be fighting an NBA title next season, the mentorship he could provide to someone like Morant would be handy. And there is the connection with former Bucks assistant and head coach Taylor Jenkins in that regard.

The deal also includes Wilson for the sake of salary filler. While Wilson’s theoretical versatility on both ends of the floor could be of value, he likely would have the same role as he does with the Bucks right now.

Attaching a second round pick could give Memphis to take on a mild return in Hill and Wilson, but they would have Wilson’s bird rights and Hill’s flexible contract, which will be only guaranteed for $1.2 million for the 2021-22 season.
